Windows 7 runs about as well on netbooks as does Windows XP, and when you consider the numerous functional advantages in Windows 7, it becomes a no-brainer from a choice standpoint. Windows 7 has fewer background tasks running by default, and it offers much better support for multi-core processors. Click on the LAN Settings button. Automatically detect settings is the only box that should be checked. If the others are checked, you will not be able to get onto the network! Click on OK in both windows to apply these settings, but do not restart your computer yet! Computer Name & Workgroup Settings Oct 14, 2011 · Doesn't matter if I run IE 10 "normal" or with "administration" rights, my LAN settings are loose, when I restart Windows or wake after "Hibernate" mode. Sometimes it grant, when I restart IE 10. I use the proxy settings because my broadband connection isn't very fast. Last but not least: Hope my English isn't too bad ;-).

In the most recent version of Windows (Windows 10) there is a new Windows Settings hub available that is designed to give you the chance to change most of the settings that you would want to change.
